Burns Supper

On January 24th we attended a Burns Night Supper, which is a really fun celebration that was organized by the kids’ school (and sponsored by HSBC - shameless plug).

The event was a really cool experience – there was singing, bagpipes, speeches, raffles, auctions and of course, dancing! We had such a blast. Here are some highlights...

Master of Ceremonies

Here we are at the start of the evening... notice the soccer jersey directly behind us... perhaps a bit of foreshadowing of what is to come....

Time for raffle! Mike was being a little theatrical because he thought I was videoing... whoops - made for some pretty funny pictures though.

I wonder whose name is on that piece of paper....

Woohoo! We won whiskey!

Woohoo - we can do that too! :)

Wait... I got a free little one anyway?

Burns Supper = lots and lots of whiskey...

Beautiful singing by the choir

Here comes the Haggis...

Presenting, blessing and cutting the haggis

He's going to try it...

There he goes....

Hey, not bad!

Sticking with the good stuff

Toast to the Lassies (it was really, really funny - you can catch one verse on the video)

Response to the toast to the Lassies - Victoria was so funny, but unfortunately I was laughing and not taping

The highlight of the evening may have been when we bid a lot of money to win this soccer jersey that is signed by some people. Yeah, that's about all we know about the jersey... or soccer for that matter. I guess that's just what happens at a Burns Supper auction.

YES! We won something!
So now we have this jersey... sitting in our hallway... what the heck do you do with this thing?

We are big fans of Burns Supper. Can't wait for next year!
